Micro-beads will soon be band from all UK products, and here’s why:
What is a micr0-bead?
Micro-beads are tiny bits of plastic used in skincare products like face and body scrubs to cleanse and exfoliate the skin, and can range in size from those you can see on your hand to those that are invisible to the naked eye.
After you’ve exfoliated, the micro-beads are washed down your plug hole and away in to the sea.
Why micro-beads will be banded in the UK
Studies have found that the effects of micro-beads on marine life have been extremely damaging, and the government has decided to ban micro-beads from sale in the UK by the end of 2017.
Micro-beads have been found in the stomachs of fish, shell fish and even birds, as they are mistaking the tiny plastic spheres for food. which is harmful to the animal and causes additional damage to the environment.
